What we do

Red Squirrel Music is an online piano teaching studio founded by classical pianist and teacher Sally Proudman.

It was created to make high quality music tuition more accessible, more flexible, and better suited to real life. Not everyone can commit to travelling to lessons every week, and not everyone wants a one-size-fits-all approach. Online teaching can work brilliantly when it is thoughtful, personal, and well structured.

RSM offers one-to-one piano lessons for beginners, returning players, and adult learners who want expert guidance in a format that fits around work, family, and other commitments. Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, experience, and pace. Some people want a clear sense of progress and accountability. Others want to build confidence, play for enjoyment, or come back to music after time away.

The aim is simple: to make learning piano feel encouraging, achievable, and genuinely worthwhile. Good teaching should help people improve, but it should also help them enjoy the process and feel more confident in what they are doing.

Alongside live lessons, Red Squirrel Music is gradually growing into a wider online platform, with plans for resources and courses to support students between lessons and help more people learn in a way that works for them.

Who we are

Red Squirrel Music was founded by and is operated by Sally Proudman.

Sally is a Classical musician from the town of Stone in the West Midlands.

Sally has performed in many concerts both as a soloist and accompanist to a variety of performers and ensembles. She has also provided accompaniment for students in ABRSM exams, and from 2023-2025 worked as Assistant Musical Director and Répétiteur for Edinburgh Studio Opera, for their productions of Handel’s Semele and Massenet’s Cendrillon.

Realising a huge gap in access to learning for adults across the UK, Sally has launched Red Squirrel Music in the hope of making it possible for more people to take up learning the piano.
